CLICK TO: SUBMIT A RESOURCE TO BUILD THIS DATABASE!!! -------- Why do we have Shore Service Unit monthly meetings? We are just one of over 40 service units that make up the Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore. The Shore Service Unit alone represents approximately 500 Girl Scouts and Girl Scout Adult Volunteers in Brielle, Manasquan, St. Denis, Sea Girt, Spring Lake, Spring Lake Heights and St. Catharine's. As this level we can really help one another out, as well as, maintain a cohesive organization that abides by Monmouth Council Standards and Safety Wise. Our Leaders and Troop volunteers are urged to attend our monthly meetings. At least one member from each troop should be attending each meeting to keep on top of Council updates, product sales, current sales projects, participate in Service Unit activities, find out what other local troops are doing, educate yourself and bring back the most you can to your girls. These meetings are to help you and if there are any topics you would like to see us cover, kindly advise! This is a very important time to be involved. As you may already know - Girl Scouting has undergone an unprecedented organization-wide review in which all facets of the organization - from structure to fundraising - have been assessed. There are a lot of changes that will be occurring. Your attendance and participation in our Leader's Meetings will insure that you will be kept up to date with the changes in Girl Scout's reorganization. For example, there are currently 312 councils nationwide, once the realignment process is complete in the coming months, there will be 109 Girl Scout councils across the country. Monmouth Council has merged with the Girl Scouts of Ocean County to become "The Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore". Our Leader's Meetings are structured to be informative and fun. Kelly McAllister, our Council Liaison/Membership Specialist attends and speaks at each of these meetings. Take advantage of this opportunity to address concerns and listen to what is going on, she comes to help us and we are very thankful for her participation and contribution. We also want to make sure that achievements are recognized and that we are all working toward common goals - so tell us what is going on with your troop! We want to provide local support for your Scouting questions and a database of knowledge that you can tap into. So be sure to bring your questions, suggestions, ideas and know how! Mark your calendar for all of our upcoming meetings. |
